THIS IS A LEGAL DOCUMENT THAT AFFECTS YOUR RIGHTS. READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING.

In consideration of being permitted to participate in the Leading Trails Full and Half Marathon: Temple to Temple Run (the "Event"), including but not limited to running, walking, or otherwise traversing the designated course, I, the undersigned Participant (or, if the Participant is under 18 years of age, the undersigned Parent or Legal Guardian on behalf of the minor Participant), for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, successors, assigns, and any other persons entitled to act on my behalf, hereby acknowledge, represent, warrant, and agree as follows:

Acknowledgment of Risks. I understand and acknowledge that participation in the Event involves inherent risks and dangers, including but not limited to: serious bodily injury, sickness, disease (including communicable diseases such as COVID-19), permanent disability, paralysis, death, property damage or loss, falls, contact or collision with other participants, spectators, vehicles, animals, or natural/manmade objects; exposure to extreme weather conditions (e.g., heat, cold, rain, wind); imperfect course conditions, including uneven surfaces, potholes, debris, and varying terrain; traffic hazards on public roads, including US-89 where participants will run exclusively on the west shoulder as directed; and other undefined, unforeseeable, or presently unknown risks. I have reviewed the tentative course maps (available at: Half-marathon: https://www.raceentry.com/maps/user/view/65752;

Full-marathon: https://www.raceentry.com/maps/user/view/65751) and understand the route involves scenic rural roads, paved highways (including segments of US-89), low-traffic back streets, and farm roads, with potential vehicular traffic, controlled crossings, and no full roadway closures. I am aware that traffic on US-89 and other roads will continue during the Event, subject to temporary stops at designated points managed by law enforcement, and that runners must remain on the west side of US-89 at all times. I voluntarily assume all such risks, whether caused by my own actions or inactions, the actions or inactions of others, course conditions, or the negligence of the Released Parties (as defined below). I certify that I am physically fit, sufficiently trained, and in good health to participate, as verified by a licensed medical professional if necessary, and that I am not under the influence of any substances that could impair my ability.

Assumption of Risk. I knowingly and freely assume all risks associated with the Event, both known and unknown, even if arising from the negligence of the Released Parties or others, and assume full responsibility for my participation. I agree to abide by all Event rules, including but not limited to: following directions from race officials, volunteers, and law enforcement; adhering to the designated course and traffic control plan; complying with USATF-sanctioned rules (as the Event will be certified by USATF in May 2026); and observing all applicable laws, including pedestrian safety on public roads. I understand that bicycles, skateboards, strollers, animals, and personal audio devices are prohibited, and that race officials may deny or suspend my participation at any time for safety or other reasons.

Release and Waiver of Liability. I hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue the Organizer, Leading Trails, Nathan Bradley, USATF, Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), Ephraim City, Manti City, Local Police Departments, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (including for use of Ephraim YSA Stake Center 2 and Heritage Garden), sponsors, advertisers, volunteers, directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors, and any other individuals or entities providing support for the Event (collectively, the "Released Parties"), from any and all liability, claims, demands, causes of action, damages, losses, or expenses (including court costs and reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to my participation in the Event, including but not limited to injury, illness, death, or property damage, whether caused by the negligence of the Released Parties or otherwise, except for willful, wanton, or intentional misconduct.

Indemnification. I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from any and all claims, suits, actions, or liabilities brought by me or any third party arising from my participation in the Event, including those resulting from my own negligence or breach of this Agreement.

Medical Treatment and Refusal. I authorize medical treatment by Event personnel or EMS if I am unable to consent, and I agree to bear all associated costs. If I refuse recommended medical assistance or choose to continue despite injury, I assume all additional risks and release the Released Parties from any resulting liability.

Media Release. I grant permission to the Released Parties to use my name, likeness, photographs, videos, or recordings from the Event for promotional or other legitimate purposes without compensation.

Event Cancellation or Modification. I understand that the Event may be modified, delayed, or canceled due to weather, emergencies, or other unforeseen circumstances (including pandemics or governmental orders), and that no refunds or deferrals will be provided in such cases.

Severability and Governing Law. If any provision of this Agreement is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force. This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Utah.

Acknowledgment. I have carefully read this Agreement, fully understand its terms, and sign it freely and voluntarily without inducement, duress, or coercion. I acknowledge that by signing, I am giving up substantial legal rights.
